After Sarawak post, should post up what i have done on Chinese new year 2008. Although it was outdated, about 2 month ago or more than that. Then, let me start this series from Kek Lok Si Temple, which located at Air Hitam, Penang Malaysia. As usual year, i visited hometown from 2nd day of chinese new year, and this time i decide to go visit Penang as well. Along with Fattien, we have arrange so much of activities to meet up friends and travel here and there, too bad for the highway traffic, we late all the time and congested along the trip. Thus, special thanks for HungWei for so much of patience to waiting us and guide us to travel around the penang island.
We have visited this place, Kek Lok Si Temple on 3rd day of chinese new year, crowd of people over there, and cars everywhere. Lucky me i no need to drive, and we didnt spent much time stuck on traffic. I noticed a lot of photographer there, and also those penang beauties lol! Sky was dark that night, because we late there around 9pm plus. Thus, my photo nothing special compare with typical Kek Lok Si Temple photo, so i need to practise more to improve my shooting skill.
To know more about Kek Lok Si Temple, please refer to the info below that i grab from Yahoo!
Reputedly the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, situated close to the bustling Air Hitam market. The temple’s enclave including a pagoda and a huge statue of the Goddess Kuan Yin is prominent. Besides the monastery, a seven-storey pagoda of 10,000 Buddha images displays the essence of an eclectic mix of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture. The main hall has colorful souvenir shops. A shrine filled with statues and a courtyard where a large pond full of carp and the tortoises are main attractions. Here a pathway that leads to a stairway will take you to the Pagoda.
According to HungWei, you must visit Kek Lok Si Temple during chinese new year, when you come to penang. Why? Because full of lanterns fill up the whole temple, and you can have amazing night view from top of the hill. Plus, you can come can pray here, make a new year wish. There is construction project on Kek Lok Si Temple currently, or else i can took those grand artwork and show up here, like the huge Kuan Yin and others temple building. Maybe i do this next year again?
Again, thanks for HungWei for guiding us, and helping us to arrange the schedule. Next, we will travel to Gurney Drive, and done some simple shoot before we leave.
