Lake Portrait Shooting, Kampar Perak

During Chinese New Year, i spent about 4 days 3 night travel back to my parents hometown Kampar, and Ipoh also Penang for meet up some of friends. 4 days 3 night doesn’t playful enough for me, as rushing places all the way because traffic jam mar. 1st night i go visit Ipoh friends, then up to Penang the next day, reach penang around 7pm. What we done there just only photo shooting on Kek Lok Si Temple. And, we head back to Kampar on 3rd day. I think we have spent more than 5 hour travel back to Kampar that day. What i will cover in this post is last day, before i back to Kuala Lumpur, and this is ending of my CNY 4 days 3 night exclusive eat eat walk walk trip lol.

Actually Kampar not my hometown, just my parents from Kampar, and i used to stay Kampar when i was child. Kampar just a small town, which consist of few street, and it is peaceful compare with Kuala Lumpur. You can found 4 roll of unrenovated old style shophouse over this small town, and mini Japan garden at Kampar. Fully recommend for photo shooting such as model portrait or flora and fauna. Now, there is new kampar consist of new residential developments, and also university, Kampar hotel and also new commercial area. Lucky, it still connected with old kampar. You can found another version of photo here.

Some background of Kampar town which i grab from online:

Kampar is a town in the state of Perak, Malaysia. The town lies within the Kinta Valley, an area rich with tin reserves. It is situated due south of Simpang Pulai. It was a tin mining town which boomed during the heights of the tin mining industry. There used to be many tin mines on the outskirts of Kampar, but most have closed down following the collapse of the industry. Kampar was established in 1887.

The booms and busts of Kampar followed the vicissitudes of the mining industry. Most of them were established in the late 19th century, flourished in the 1900s, only to stagnate and decline after World War I, with the exception of an exhilarating boom in the 1920s.

This lake located the way back to Tapah, nearby a very small and peaceful town. I still remember many people who passby look forward to us, and though we’re those who capture speed trap lol. How i know? will show u those picture. Hot, sunny and nice cloud that day, i took not much of photo as need to rushing back to Kuala Lumpur asap that day.

Kek Lok Si Temple, Chinese New Year 2008, Air Hitam, Penang

After Sarawak post, should post up what i have done on Chinese new year 2008. Although it was outdated, about 2 month ago or more than that. Then, let me start this series from Kek Lok Si Temple, which located at Air Hitam, Penang Malaysia. As usual year, i visited hometown from 2nd day of chinese new year, and this time i decide to go visit Penang as well. Along with Fattien, we have arrange so much of activities to meet up friends and travel here and there, too bad for the highway traffic, we late all the time and congested along the trip. Thus, special thanks for HungWei for so much of patience to waiting us and guide us to travel around the penang island.

We have visited this place, Kek Lok Si Temple on 3rd day of chinese new year, crowd of people over there, and cars everywhere. Lucky me i no need to drive, and we didnt spent much time stuck on traffic. I noticed a lot of photographer there, and also those penang beauties lol! Sky was dark that night, because we late there around 9pm plus. Thus, my photo nothing special compare with typical Kek Lok Si Temple photo, so i need to practise more to improve my shooting skill.

To know more about Kek Lok Si Temple, please refer to the info below that i grab from Yahoo!

Reputedly the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, situated close to the bustling Air Hitam market. The temple’s enclave including a pagoda and a huge statue of the Goddess Kuan Yin is prominent. Besides the monastery, a seven-storey pagoda of 10,000 Buddha images displays the essence of an eclectic mix of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture. The main hall has colorful souvenir shops. A shrine filled with statues and a courtyard where a large pond full of carp and the tortoises are main attractions. Here a pathway that leads to a stairway will take you to the Pagoda.

According to HungWei, you must visit Kek Lok Si Temple during chinese new year, when you come to penang. Why? Because full of lanterns fill up the whole temple, and you can have amazing night view from top of the hill. Plus, you can come can pray here, make a new year wish. There is construction project on Kek Lok Si Temple currently, or else i can took those grand artwork and show up here, like the huge Kuan Yin and others temple building. Maybe i do this next year again?
